again for us tonight. what more do we know, mike, from the reporting of foxnews.com about what else is in this notebook? >> we know that the notebook was discovered on that day that the bomb squads were examining suspicious packages on the university campus of the hospital campus here. building 500 has a mail room. the federal authorities got a warrant to search that mail room. in the mail room they found one package with the return address of james holmes. as you mentioned, it was addressed to a campus psychiatrist. it is not known by the package never arrived or was never received by that particular psychiatrist. but, if, indeed he had received it and read it. if, indeed, the details forecast the attack, that psychiatrist would have been obligated to notify authorities. >> and as an exception to the normal doctor/patient privilege, in other words, had this package been opened, this doctor may well have had information that he was duty bound to share with the public, to share with law enforcement so that this kind of tragedy might have been averted. >> now, law enforcement source tell

laser hit the pilot they tell us. we don't know if they were flying the airplane at the time. the federal aviation describes eye injury as minor and the flight landed safely at jfk about 10 minutes later. investigators still trying to find the person who pointed the laser. shows what it looks like in a cockpit when the laser hits. people fired at lasers airplanes more than 3500 times last year. it's a federal crime to do. so a fugitive wanted for the murder of his ex-girlfriend tried to steal a commercial jet. but he crashed it and then shot himself to death. that's the word from officials in southern utah where it happened. here is is a picture of the suspect. cops say they started searching for him on friday after his ex-girlfriend turned up dead in colorado springs. fast forward to today. a spokesman for the city of saint george a couple hours northeast of las vegas. says the suspect arrived at that city's airport overnight. he apparently threw a rug over a bausched wire fence. then used leather gloves to climb up and over that fence. the spokesman says the suspect boarded this

housley live for us in denver. we are now getting a look at what's happened in colorado springs. huh, adam? >> yeah, jon. that waldo canyon fire is the one you are talking about. more than 300 homes destroyed. more than 17,000 acres burned. the fire still officially 55% contained but firefighters believe they have a very good handle on it. they did allow cameras back in to the mountain shadow neighborhoods the area hardest hit. our camera was there to capture some of the video you will see. many homes left destroyed, left in piles of ash. but then you will notice one home next door that was a wood-sided house with shingled roofs that is still standing and you don't know why it is still there but it is. neighbors are already starting to help each other out, starting rebuilding. the neighborhood was devastated by that wall of flames that roared through there last week. meantime the fire that is almost under control there is one of a number burning across the west. seven states, we have a map here to show you, seven states have fires burning. montana with the most. colorado the second m
